Peter "Pete" Castro Obituary

Peter "Pete" Calvillo Castro

June 29th 1935 - January 16th 2025

Pete was a devoted family man and beloved member of his community, he passed away peacefully at home. He was known for his kindness and warmth and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Born in Bakersfield, CA to Mary Calvillo and Bruno Castro, who preceded him in death along with his sister Grace Sanchez, he is survived by his brother Conrad and sister Maryellen Ornelas. He graduated from Arvin High School and was attending Bakersfield College when he was called to duty where he enlisted in the Army and was sent to Germany as a Trainer/handler for the Korean Conflict, he had very fond memories of his dog Ordan and he enjoyed traveling Europe with his Army buddies. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting where he put it to good use as Sales Manager and Manager of Special Events for Advance Beverage Co., Kern Valley Distributing and W.A. Thompson Coors, during those years he made many lasting friendships while setting up the many Kern County Events like the Kern County Fair, Bakersfield Business Conference, BC Steak dinners, Concerts at Mesa Marin, The Greek Festival, Basque Picnics too many to list, after nearly 40 years in the Beverage business he later went to work for good friend Frank Carter at Western Industrial. He traveled on Honor Flight 21 and remembered his trip fondly. He was a member of many organizations; Knights of Columbus, American Legion, The Eagles and Moose Lodge. Beyond his professional life Pete was an avid Dodger fan and Ram ticket holder for many years, you'd find his family with him watching the games. He enjoyed traveling and taking his family to his beloved Puerto Vallarta, Mx and RVing on the Central Coast. In early years Pete found joy spending time at his cabin in Balance Rock and coaching his boys in baseball and later his grandson. He never missed his kids, grandkids and great grandkids, performances or games he was very proud of them all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Dolores "Guevara" Castro whom he met at a local dance. She was always his loving partner and supported him throughout the years. Together they raised 3 children. He is survived by daughter Tammy Castro-Kuster, husband Ken Kuster and grandson Justin Kuster (fiancée Amy Lewis). Son Eric "Rick" Castro, wife Guadalupe "Venegas" Castro, Granddaughter Tiayana Rennert, husband Josh Rennert, Great Grandchildren Aubrey Caffrey husband James Caffrey, Ava, Ryan and Renn. Granddaughter Tiara Castro and Granddaughter Ericka Brown, husband Clinton Brown lll, Great Grandsons Clinton IV and Cashe. Son Peter "Steven" Castro, wife Cindy "Martinez" Castro, Granddaughter Jennifer Castro, Granddaughter Heather Gonzales, husband Christian Gonzales, Great Granddaughters Kennedy and Nixon.

A special nod to his Sister in law Phyllis Burciaga and Brother in law Tom & Frank Guevara that have been there for him throughout the years, his casino buddies. He loved them very much.

Pete will be remembered as a man who taught his family to embrace life with Love, Loyalty and joy. His legacy will live on through the countless memories he created with his loved ones and the community he touched so deeply.

Pete was the best brother-in-law
and we shared many memorable sporting events and vacations together. He was a very generous and caring man and always remembered family members birthdays.
We will dearly miss his presence but will always have the fondest memories with our beloved Pete.

Everybody new Pete !
I met him through my Father-In-Law, Bob Newcomb in the early Seventies. Pete was always supportive in sponsoring our Tug-Of -War Team from the Regent. Always the Gentleman...One Nice Guy,...RIP.
