Ray MCoy Obituary

Ray Doyal McCoy, 86, of Reedy, died Friday, July 25, 2025, at Miletree Center, Spencer.

He was born October 16, 1938, at Parkersburg, the son of the late Doy Forest and Eva Collen Silket McCoy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris McCoy; daughter, Louise April Sheldon; sister, Elsie I.; brothers, Roy J., Dave E., Orville Lee, Larry R. and Doy Forest.

Ray is a retired Sergeant First Class 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army. During his service, he served three tours in Vietnam.

He is survived by his son, Ray D. McCoy; daughter, Esther Doris English both of Reedy; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Gary G. and Earl G. both of Parkersburg; sister, Linda Louise of Wilmington, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 8 at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Reedy with military honors by the West Virginia Honor Guard and American Legion Post 21, Spencer.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
