Raymond Desinor Obituary

Raymond Desinor, 98, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, after a long and fulfilling life.

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on September 19, 1926, to Alice Petit and St-Victor Desinor, Raymond was the youngest of five children. A man of resilience and unwavering strength, he dedicated his life to his family and community. Raymond attended the prestigious Petit Séminaire Collège Saint-Martial and Institution Saint-Louis de Gonzague, where he laid the foundation for a life of learning and service.

In his early career as a foreman in construction, Raymond played a significant role in shaping the infrastructure of his beloved Haiti. His time working at a pharmacy sparked a lifelong passion for practical medicine, earning him a reputation as a trusted caretaker within his community, always armed with his trusted penicillin to help loved ones in need.

In 1952, Raymond married the love of his life, Clarice Calixte. Together, they shared 35 years of marriage and raised nine children: Gladys, Yanick, Chantal, Jean Raymond, Magalie, Marjorie, Vendrix, Ruthgina, and Daphne. As a devoted husband and father, Raymond built a legacy of love, faith, and sacrifice.

In September 1969, Raymond immigrated to the United States, paving the way for a brighter future for his family. He worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard before serving his community as an employee of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

Retirement brought Raymond closer to his family, earning him the affectionate title of “Papam” from his grandchildren. Known for his nurturing spirit, he took great joy in babysitting, spoiling his grandchildren with McDonald's, Dunkin' Donuts, and his signature steak and potatoes. He cherished long walks, traveling, and dreaming of hitting the jackpot. Above all, Raymond loved spending time with his family and sharing stories of his remarkable life.

Raymond will be remembered for his kindness, unshakable work ethic, and the joy he brought to every gathering.

After the untimely passing of his beloved wife, Raymond has now been peacefully reunited with her. He is survived by his seven daughters: Gladys (Daniel) Joseph, Yanick (Renel) Petitfrere, Chantal (Sergio) Borgella, Dr. Magalie (Emmanuel) Celesna, Marjorie, Ruthgina (Wesley) Pamphile, and Daphne; and two sons: Jean (Carol) Desinor and Vendrix Desinor. He is also survived by his nine granddaughters: Fabiola, Aisha, Tanieka, Theresa, Phylicia (Jeffrey) Jenkins, Courtney, Kiesha (Brandon) Newton, Natalie (Aaron) Thompson, and Clarice; and five grandsons: Serge-Imhotep, Raymond, Ahkeem (Caryn) Desinor, Clifford, and Clarence (Miryam)  Desinor.

Raymond’s legacy extends to 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, Camerin Milling. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Renel Petitfrere his two grandsons, David Sejourne and Pascal Petit-Frère, and two granddaughters, Gracey and Patrice Petit-Frère.

Although he is no longer with us, Raymond will live forever in our hearts, for “Everybody Loves Raymond.”

TO MY LOVING FATHER, RAYMOND DESINOR ❤

The soul has left, your body remains which soon be an etched memory. What a father you have been to me, my brothers and sisters, a great father I will say. No amount of years sufficient, no amount of time will change the fact that you are not here with all of us.
You have sacrificed everything for the love of your children, grandchildren all the way down to the fifth generation. Even when mom suddenly ascended to heaven in 1988, you filled in as mother, father to us children.
As I said to you in your final days, I THANK YOU FOR GIVING LIFE TO ME, AND THAT YOU ARE THE GREATEST FATHER EVER AND I LOVE YOU.
DAD YOU MAY NOT HAVE BEEN THE RICHEST MAN, MONEY WISE, BUT YOU HAVE BEEN THE BEST LOVING FATHER TO ALL 9 CHILDREN.

YOU ARE GREATLY LOVED AND MISSED

Dear Papam

The loss of your life was a great hit to all of your children. Your charismatic personality and grand love has been passed down to all of us and we each carry a piece of you within us. You were able to be a mother and father to all of your children and somehow manage to be everywhere when needed for not just the 9 of us but all of your grand children and great grandkids even down to the fifth generation.

I love you ❤ and I miss you forever

Dear Papam,

You have been an inspiration, excellent and exceptional father. Your loving, caring charismatic personality has transcended through all of us. Many times I thanked you for giving life to me and that is just a milestone.
The loss of you is greater than anything, since the departure of mom in 1988, you have taken both roles as mother and father for your children and not even to mention all your grandchildren and great grandkids, all the way down to the fifth generation.

- I love you ❤ and I miss you forever
