Richard John Breaker, 79, died Sunday, January 12, 2025. He was born June 8, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas to John Cantey Breaker and Dorothy Mae (Zarsky) Breaker. He studied Psychology at Loyola University in Los Angeles, California. He married Joyce Marie McClain in 1977 in Houston, Texas. He moved to Woodsboro, Texas in 1982.
He was an artist, a jazz musician, and a writer. He wrote a political humor column for the Refugio County Press for several years during his time in Woodsboro. He moved back to his childhood home in Houston, Texas in 2007.
He is survived by his brother, Steven Breaker of Fayetteville, Arkansas, sisters, Carla McAllister of Houston, Texas and Janeen Gorton of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is also survived by sons Jason Breaker of San Francisco, California, Brandon Breaker of Woodsboro, Texas, and his daughter Amber Breaker of Hutto, Texas, his stepson Marcus McLemore of Richmond, Texas, and stepdaughters Erica McLemore of Rosenberg, Texas, Valerie McLemore of Dallas, Texas, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Breaker will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 507 S. 4th St. in Richmond, Texas. A short visitation will commence at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Murphy Jones Cemetery in Richmond, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Marie Breaker in January 24, 2024.
