Richard "Rick" Hughes Obituary

He was a great friend to me and will truly be missed. I knew him for over 35 yrs he loved going to Myrtle Beach and many golf trips, UC games. He always had many stories to tell and made everybody laugh he was the life of the party. RIP Big Stick.

Rick was a friend who always had a smile. His humor was catching, people who knew him always felt at ease and glad they knew him. He will surely be missed.

I've known Rick "Bodo" for many years. Really enjoyed the times at the Fabulous Edge having a cold one with Rick, Joe and Barney. Rest in Peace my friend.

Bodo was a great friend while I was going through nursing school. He was my tennis buddy and one day he decided I had to learn to play golf. Go figure! He took me to LCC where I proceeded to tear up the green. He almost had a heart attack and couldn’t understand how I could hit a moving ball so well but not the precious golf ball. Lo and behold, years later our paths crossed again when I was his favorite cardiac rehab nurse. He was a good man and I cherish all the memories we made together. May God look after him in the great golf course in the sky.

Dear Kathy, Jim and Dave. We are so sorry for your loss. May you find peace knowing Rick is resting in the arms of the Lord and may you find comfort in the many happy memories and love from family and friends. Hugs and Love to you all.

There was no one like Bodo. He was one of the best. We will really miss him.

I spent the last few years going to Myrtle Beach to golf with Big Stick. Great storyteller and a great personality.

My sympathy to the family and friends of Rick (Bodo).

Rick was a giant among men, he had more friends than anybody we know. He was there for everybody. He liked everybody. He would like you if you were a good golfer or a bad golfer. No matter which, he enjoyed playing the game with you. I never herd him talk down or bad about anybody, he respected all.

Big Stick was my be of my favorite patrons when I worked at Augie’s Tavern. He had a ready smile, a million jokes and knew just the right songs to play! He will be sorely missed.

So sorry for your loss, Jim, Kathy, and Dave. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was golfing with Big Stick and Tony one day. As we looked out over the lake we had to tee over, I said, there’s a lot of water out there. Big Stick dryly said, there’s more than you think, you are only looking at the surface of it. Funny, funny and nicest man you will meet. We will miss you.

Rick was the kindest person I have ever met. His smile would light up the room! Such a jokester❤❤❤

Ron and I are going to miss the stories that Rick told and just the all around great man who he was! I bought him that shirt for a golf outing and it just made me smile when I saw this. Love you Stick and will miss you so very much! Blackie and Birdie
