Rose Keaton Obituary

Rose Caroline Hess Keaton, 87, of Spencer, W.Va., formerly of Tariff, W.Va., departed her earthly home Friday, April 11, 2025.

She was born July 11, 1937, at Left Hand, W.Va., the daughter of the late Elihu Princeton and Rose Arinda Moore Hess.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vandle Ray Keaton; four children, June, Vandle Jr. “Budgie”, Robin and Cathy; five brothers and seven sisters.

Rose was a homemaker and spent her entire life taking care of her family and the elderly. She loved the Lord and looked forward to Sundays where she attended Breakthrough Baptist Church with her granddaughter, Julie.

Survivors include three daughters, Jean Keaton of Ripley, Rhonda (Darrel) Leach of Tennessee and Lisa (Mike) Gandee of Spencer; two sisters, Betty Hofmann of Kentucky and Juanita Duke of Georgia; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren with two more on the way.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Philip Linger officiating. Burial will be in the Moore Keaton Cemetery, Left Hand.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Sunday.
