Salinda Lydia Peachey, 82, of Mannsville, NY, died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 21, 2025. She was born on February 19, 1943, in Belleville, PA, to the late Emmanuel L and Sadie (Hostetler) Byler. She was married to Israel R Peachey on November 12, 1963.
Salinda was a member of Northern Light Christian Fellowship. She and her husband lived for most of their lives in Belleville, PA, and were members of Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church. Salinda suffered a stroke in 2012 which left her confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. In 2014 she and her husband relocated to her oldest daughter’s home in Mannsville, NY, to accommodate her health-care needs.
Salinda enjoyed gardening in her younger years. After her stroke, she enjoyed coloring. She accepted her handicap without complaining and was easy to care for.
She is survived by her children: Sylvia (Joe) Kurtz, Mannsville, NY; Ivan (Kay) Peachey, Dyke, VA; Wilmer (Vera) Peachey, Ellisburg, NY; Barbara (Mark) Peachey, Denver, PA; Sadie (Nathan) Yoder, Lewisburg, PA; and Alta (Billy) Waldner, Myerstown, PA; 53 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Henry (Barb) Byler and Emmanuel J Byler, both of Belleville, PA; two sisters-in-law Mary Byler Peachey and Salinda Byler
She was predeceased by her husband, Israel; her parents; a son, Daniel; three brothers, Daniel, Norman, and Willie; and one sister, Sylvia.
A memorial service will be held at 7pm on Monday, June 23, at Northern Light Christian Fellowship, Woodville, NY. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24th, at the Pleasant View Amish Mennonite church in Belleville, PA. The funeral will take place at 10 am, Wednesday, June 25, at the church, with the burial to follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
The family is very appreciative of how the church family here at Northern Light has welcomed Dad and Mom and taken an interest in their lives. God bless you! Thank you so much for the meals you provided for us during this time. Your prayers and gifts have blessed us.
