Vernie C. Andrews, 85, of Franklin, passed away on July 31, 2018. He was born on August 7, 1932 in Indianapolis, to Vernie and Edna Andrews.
He married Barbara (Dorsey) Andrews in 1952 and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Debra (Darrell) Evans, Linda (Vic) Hughes, Steven (Brenda) Andrews; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Mable Stevens and Shirley Osborn.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, John Andrews, Mary Evelyn Shuck, Louise Reinken.
Vernie was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War Era.
He was a supervisor for Regen Baking Company for 23 years and then worked as a caretaker for 12 years at Greenwood United Methodist Church where he was an active member. He was currently a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Vernie was often referred to as "Handy Andy" for the loving service he gave to so many. He enjoyed watching movies, fishing and was often seen behind the camera. He always planned his family vacations around his children.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. Pastor Jenothy Rather will officiate the funeral service at 2:00 PM, Saturday. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the
American Heart Association or Grace United Methodist Church.
