Susan Webb Obituary

In Loving Memory of Susan Marie Webb June 1955 – March 26, 2025

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Susan Marie Webb, who departed this life on March 26, 2025, at the age of 69.

Susan was a proud and active member of the Brighton Post 80 American Legion Auxiliary. Her dedication to her community was evident in the many ways she served — preparing meals at the Brighton Legion, marching or riding in parades, and attending funerals in honor of veterans and members of the auxiliary. She also participated regularly in the Brighton VFW Pancake Breakfasts, where she greeted customers and handed out Poppies. Her kind smile and steady presence were always appreciated.

Sue or Susie, as she was lovingly known, had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. She loved taking rides in the car, especially around the lake in Island Pond, where she found peace in the quiet beauty of nature and she enjoyed riding in the fall and watching as the leaves changed. Sue enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, the Sci-Fi Channel, cooking shows, and sports, a true lover of stories, imagination, and competition alike. She enjoyed her Pepsi, chocolate and strawberry milkshakes, and haircuts. Above all, Sue cherished family gatherings, treasuring time spent with loved ones.

In 2019, following a six-week stay at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury due to serious health challenges. When released, Sue moved to the Pines Rehabilitation and Health in Lyndonville. It was there that she made her home for the last several years of her life. She formed close friendships and truly loved living at The Pines, where she was surrounded by care, companionship, and a strong sense of community.

With great sadness, Sue’s passing leaves behind her sister, Sharon Webb Patenaude and her husband Rene, of Newport Center and their children Shawn Patenaude and his family, Jason Patenaude and his family and Celine Patenaude Cote and her children; her brother, James Webb of Island Pond and his children Ashley Webb and Jimmy Webb and his son; her sister, Sandy Webb Frizzell of Island Pond and her children Fraser Frizzell and his children and Brittany Frizzell and her children.

Susan was predeceased by her mother, Elmer and Muriel Lurvey Webb of Island Pond and her grandparents, Omer and Ruth Hobbs Lurvey of Island Pond and Clarence and Lillian McKinney Webb of Charleston.

A memorial service will be held on June 28, 2025, at the Green Mountain Church in Island Pond at 11:00. Burial will occur after the service at the Lakeside Cemetery on Pleasant Street in Island Pond.

Susie was the first friend I made when I moved to Island Pond, so many years ago. May she rest in peace.
