Teddy Ritchie Obituary

Teddy Lee Ritchie, 84, of Wichita Falls passed away Friday, September 26, 2025.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.  Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery in Wichita Falls.

Teddy was born on December 22, 1940 in Belcherville to the late Joe B. and Wilma (Reeves) Ritchie.  As a child, Teddy learned to play the accordion, and played on the radio to help support his family.  He married Jimmye Sue on July 24, 1959, and the couple were married for 57 years until her passing in 2016.

Teddy loved the outdoors, and the family camped all over the state of Texas.  He also loved anything regarding the history of Wichita Falls.  Teddy started tinkering with electronics in his garage, which led to a career repairing TV’s at Johnson’s Magnavox, and finally as an electronic engineer for General Motors/Delphi in Wichita Falls.

Teddy also loved to travel with his family, and collected railroad memorabilia.  He also liked to keep Ebay and Amazon in business.  He was a simple man, who led a simple life, and loved his family dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and three brothers.

Teddy is survived by children Dolly Sims, and Robin Ritchie and wife Donna; grandchildren Jessica Pira and husband Lewis, Tara Booher, Dallas Bell and husband Eric, Stephanie Coston and husband Eli, Courtney Jackson and husband Ira, and McKenzie Tidwell and Colton Chandler; great-grandchildren Addy, Kaydyn, Casen, Hattie, Axel, and Liza; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

If desiring, memorial donations may be made in Teddy’s name to the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. There are no words to express the kind of person Mr. Ritchie was, other than he was a very pleasant, loving, and kind man. He loved his collectible trains and accessories. Mr. Richie always told me to let my son play in his yard or driveway, because he wasn't bothering him and he enjoyed watching him play. We will miss dearly.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It has been many years since I have seen your dad, but he was always a good neighbor to my family and was always amenable to driving us to school stuff. Seeing you two together showed me how a good father was - you are his princess. You have my prayers for God's grace during this difficult time.
