Timothy Jones Obituary
Timothy Jones, 44 transitioned from this life to eternity on Friday, July 15, 2022 in Virginia Beach at Thalia Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility.
Timothy Lamont Jones (affectionately known as TJ was born August 20, 1977 in Smithfield, VA to the late Shirley and Rosa Mae Butler Jones.
TJ attended Smithfield High School where he played in the band and graduated in 1996. He attended Norfolk State University for 1 year. He loved selling cars and was employed at various car dealerships throughout tidewater.
TJ confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church under the pastorate of Dr. Lucas. He later became a member of Miracle Temple Baptist Church where he was a choir director, in the men’s ministry and on the ministerial staff. TJ was licensed as a minister in 2006 by Apostle Shelita Lane. He was currently a member of Second Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Geoffrey Guns.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Shirley and Rosa Mae Butler Jones, his godmother Janice Pryor, one maternal aunt, two maternal uncles and two paternal uncles. He is survived by his son Destine Chapman, four aunts, Delorise Jones(Ralph) Brenda Ellsworth (Herbert) (affectionately known as Mom and Pop), Wanda butler (Ricky) and Carol Butler, four uncles: James Butler(Debra), Marvin Butler(Julie), Jerry Butler, and Cecil Butler (Elonka);three special cousins, Tyrell Butler, Kevin Grandison and Jerry Bailey; a host of cousins, nieces, great nieces, nephews, a god daughter Shakarra Melvin (Jamar); 3 god sisters; Latonya Pryor, Candice Alexander(William), Donnetta Faison (Antonio) and a loving and caring girlfriend, Charlita Williams
A Celebration Service of Timothy's Life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Public viewing will take place from 3-6 pm Friday July 22, 2022 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Jones and Butler family in your prayers.

Words cannot express how sorry I am for TJ’s passing.
My heartfelt condolences go out to all of his family and friends. Your love and dedication to him during his hospitalization, rehab, and returning home was steadfast and pure. Please find peace in knowing you did all you could possibly do, to help heal him during this time. Love above all is the greatest gift we can give each other. His body, mind, soul, and spirit are perfect now, with no sadness or suffering. He leaves his Obici family with special memories of determination, strength, laughter, and love. Tim was a very caring person. He was like a son to me. I met him when he came to SCBC and he became a part of my family. I am so sad about what he went through; however, God knows best and has him resting with Jesus. My prayers are for his family. Sleep on Tim, take your rest, God knew what was best. Peace and love.
