Venice “Ven” Cluett, 91, Moose Lake, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 in Moose Lake Village where she received wonderful care during her stay. She was born on November 23, 1933, in Moose Lake to Herman and Harriet Mader. Ven grew up in Holyoke where she attended school. At the age of 14, Ven moved to the Twin Cities and worked as a housekeeper and attended school. On July 1, 1950, Ven married Donald Cluett in Duluth. They lived in the Twin Cities and later moved to Kerrick. Ven was a homemaker and worked as a waitress in the cafe in Kerrick. She later worked at Sexton’s Mercantile in Kerrick where she began sorting the mail and later became the postmaster in Kerrick. Donald and Ven moved to Sturgeon Lake. She was a member of Oak Lake Lutheran Church, Kerrick. Ven loved polka dancing, socializing with people, and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2008; daughter, DeeAnn Sheppard in 2010; and a sister: Colleen Camden.
Ven will be lovingly remembered by her son: Don Cluett; 3 grandchildren: Leah Jarvis, Sarah Cluett, and Clover Rasmussen; 5 great grandchildren: Elijah, Payton, Cole, Morgan, and Malia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 1-3 pm in Hamlin-Hamlin-Kosloski Funeral Home Moose Lake. There will be a short prayer service at 1pm followed by fellowship with refreshments and cookies. Please bring a picture to share on the table of memories or a story to share during the fellowship time. Inurnment will be in Oak Lake Community Cemetery, Kerrick Twp.
