Clyde Harris Sjoerdsma
November 9, 1942 - February 16, 2018
Clyde was born in Lansing, Illinois, and moved his family to Woodland Park in 1972 where he was a 45 year resident of Woodland Park and Colorado Springs. He died at home from ongoing health issues.
Clyde retired from the Woodland Park School District after 20 years as the Director of Auxiliary Services. He then volunteered for several years at Penrose Hospital where he spent his last weeks in care himself. Even then, he kept his family, friends and caring hospital staff laughing with his special sense of humor.
Clyde's favorite things, after spending time with his family, were traveling, cheering on the Broncos and all things Elvis. In his younger years, he was an avid bicycle rider and enjoyed climbing Colorado's fourteeners.
Clyde is survived by the love of his life, Kathy "Katrina", daughter Cari (Lonnie), son Craig (Valerie), son Kurt (Jill), daughter Kelly, nephew Duane, his grandchildren: Lindsi, Cody, Kasi, Dillon, Kayla, Sami, Conor, Kai, Boomer and his great-grandchildren: Ariana, Brooke, Aiyla and numerous more extended family members and friends.
Clyde is proceeded in death by his brother, Richard, and sister, Marion. He remained close to their children.
Clyde was dearly loved and will be missed by all of us.
Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 11:00 at The Carter Payne, 320 S. Weber, Colorado Springs 80903.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pikes Peak Hospice.
