King
Eva Mae (Slagle) King
July 25, 1932 - February 21, 2018
Eva (Slagle) King, 85, of Colorado Springs passed away peacefully at home in Colorado Springs, CO. She joined Maurice, her husband and soul mate of 62 years, who preceded her in death only four months ago. A joint celebration of life for Eva and Maurice King will be held on Saturday, March 31st at 2:00 PM at Church for All Nations 6500 Coal Mine Ave, Littleton, CO.
Eva was born in her family home near Hubbell, NE to Frank and Louise Slagle. She was the middle of five children and is preceded in death by her siblings Melvin, Bonita and Nadine. She has one surviving sister, Rosetta.
After graduation from Reynolds High School in 1950, she attended Fairbury Community College where she earned an Associates Degree in Education. She taught at three different one-room schools in the area for eight years. Eva continued her education at the University of Nebraska while teaching. Eva and Maurice King were married on June 3, 1956 in Beatrice, NE.
In 1959 they moved to Sidney, NE where they started their family. Her children, Peggy and Roy, think they had the best mother ever! She was devoted and committed to their success. Some of her many activities included being the Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, Sunday school teacher and chauffeur for the many activities in which her family participated. She loved camping, hiking, boating and traveling.
In 1974, Eva went back to college and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She taught in Longmont, CO for 15 years before retiring in 1991. Maurice and Eva then fulfilled a dream. They sold their home and became 'full time RV-er's' for 20 years, crossing North America many times and having memorable adventures with friends, their children and grandchildren.
Eva is survived by two children: Peggy (King) Littleton of Colorado Springs, and her children, Maj. Shawn Littleton (USAF), Tiffany (Littleton) Matheson, Brittany (Littleton) Betz, their spouses and a great grandson, Tate Betz: and Roy King and his wife, Lark, of Highlands Ranch, CO and their two sons, Nicholas and 2nd lieutenant Brandon King (US Army). She also has many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews whose lives have been enriched due to her joyful spirit, her love for others and her love for the Lord Jesus.
Pikes Peak Hospice had a very positive and supporting impact on Eva and her family during her end of life journey. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in her memory to pikespeakhospice.org.

Condolences to you, Peggy, and your family for the loss of your parents. I just found out today from Doris that Eva had died. All of their friends at Summit Glen have really missed having them here with us. You will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow for the memorial service.
