Bernard "Skeets" LaRue Taylor
January 30, 1937 - May 13, 2018
Bernard LaRue Taylor, 81, passed away on May 13, 2018. Skeets was born on January 30, 1937 in Berwick, Pennsylvania. On August 10, 1958, he married Guyla Edmonston in Sedgwick, Kansas.
He was a twenty-year veteran of the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Tech Sergeant. He loved being a crew member on EC-121s flying along the East Coast of the U.S. He retired in Colorado Springs and then served for 21 years as a deputy sheriff for El Paso County.
Skeets loved auto racing. For many years, he was starting flag man of the Pike's Peak Auto Hill Climb, and served a term as chief steward.
Skeets is survived by his wife, Guyla; two daughters, Brenda Taylor and Barb Keglovits; and his four grandchildren: Ryan, Justin, Claire, and Halas, whom he was very proud of. He was preceded in death by his son, Barry Taylor.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Grace Bible Church (Eastside Church of Christ), 5905 Flintridge Drive, Colorado Springs. A reception at the church will follow. Private entombment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.
