CMSgt, USAF, Retired, Luther (Heydt) Haas, a longtime Colorado Springs resident, passed away on May 9, 2018.
Luther was born July 28, 1941 in Oley, Pennsylvania to the union of Arthur G. and Mary C. (Heydt) Haas. Luther was married to MaryAnne (Doris) for 32 years.
On September 30, 1987 Luther retired from the United States Air Force after more than 26 years. On June 30, 2004 he retired from civil service in the United States Air Force after more than 17 years. Luther worked for 39 years in the contracting career field
He was stationed at Lackland AFB, Texas (basic training), Cape Charles Air Force Station, Virginia, Fort Lee Virginia Air Force Station, Virginia, Amarillo AFB, Texas, Eglin AFB (Hurlburt Field), Florida, Kindley Air Base Bermuda, Luke AFB, Arizona, Bangkok Thailand, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, Goose Bay Air Base, Labrador, Hickman AFB, Hawaii, and finally Peterson AFB, Colorado.
While in the United States Air Force, Luther was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with five Oak Leaf Clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with two Oak Clusters, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one Oak Leaf Cluster and an Air Force Training Ribbon.
Luther is survived by his wife, MaryAnne; and daughters, Lori (Rodney) Laabs, Melanie (John) Busse, Tammy (Daryl) Pagel, Tracy Thomas; son, John (Suzie) Normile; sister, Joyce Homer; eleven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Dear Folks, so sorry to learn about my Ol Buddy Luther, I always enjoyed his visits to my office over the years.He is now out of pain and enjoying a better life.He will be missed, as we all go forward in life.
