Rachel Wade In loving memory, 23-year old Rachel Jayne Wade from CO Springs, CO was promoted to glory on December 17, 2006. Rachel's dramatic tale of survival was featured in a Gazette article May 9, 2005. Rachel's story touched the hearts of many people throughout the world via a website created for her, rachelwade.com. Rachel was preparing for her junior year at CSU when she was struck by lightning at the Glen Eagle Golf Course three years ago. Rachel was a gifted athlete competing in both volleyball and track at the collegiate level, was a member of the Chi Omega sorority, and was active in Campus Crusade for Christ. She died peacefully in her home on Sunday. She is survived by her parents, Steve and Rita, her sister, Brienne, her brother, John, her grandparents Richard and Jayne Wade of Ohio and Goldie Kerschenske of Iowa, along with many beloved friends and family members. Visitation will be held at Woodmen Valley Chapel's Stone Chapel, 290 E. Woodmen Rd., CO Springs, CO 80919 on Wednesday, December 20th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Services will be held at Woodmen Valley Chapel, 290 E. Woodmen Rd., CO Springs, CO 80919 on Thursday, December 21st at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Officers' Christian Fellowship, 3784 S. Inca, Englewood, CO 80110-3405.
