KAREN LESLIE JONES
May 28, 1958 December 28, 2018
Karen Leslie (Maynes) Jones, 60, left this earthly life surrounded by family and loved ones on Friday, December 28, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado due to complications from lung cancer.
Karen was born in Tacoma, Washington on May 28, 1958 to Don and Virginia Maynes. She was the seventh of eight children.
She is preceded in death by her parents and baby brother, Paul.
Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Laell Jones; her children, Kate (Andy) Jeppson, Jacob (Yukari) Jones, Jordan Jones, Taylor (Edmond) Brock; twelve cherished grandchildren; six siblings, Cheryl VanBuskirk, Pam (JB) Jensen, Scott (Stephanie) Maynes, Jan (Ron) Ulberg, Nancy (Paul) Jones, Todd (Sue) Maynes; and many nieces and nephews.
Karen's early life began in Tacoma, Washington and later she moved to Redding, California where she would graduate from high school. She attended BYU in Provo, Utah where she was to meet and later marry her loving husband. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
At the young age of 24, Karen was promoted to District Manager at Kmart Apparrel. She later went on to be Director of Mervyn's and was relocated to Colorado where Karen and Laell would call this their forever home.
Despite having no formal training in interior design, Karen decided to pursue her passion, through the encouragement of friends, starting the business, Decorating on a Dime. She would go on to become the most sought after designer in the Springs, eventually creating the firm we all now know as All About Home. Five years ago, she expanded on her talents and joined with her brother, Scott, to form a premiere design-build company. With the help of her sister, Cheryl, they would go on to win dozens of awards in the years to follow.
She absolutely loved her clients and the joy of transforming houses to homes of warmth and great beauty. Her God given talent was unsurpassed and will be deeply missed. Karen's love of design and of her many clients who became her friends came second only to the love she had for her family. "They say that memories are priceless and we know that this is true, but we never wanted memories, we only wanted you." Her legacy and spirit forever reside within us. Until we meet again.
We would like to thank her devoted oncologist, Dr. Doebele and his staff for prolonging the memories we shared with her this past year.

When I walked into the house on the Parade of homes, my heart sang with its beauty. I had to know who had created such an airy and light filled space. Of course, it was Karen Jones. She gave me her card in hopes that, one day, I could have her redesign my home.
Today I dug out that card. It was time. My hubby had consented to hiring a designer.
Alas, it was not to be. I'm so sorry to find you have succumbed to your battle with Lung Cancer. As I remember your work,
I will always carry the joy your artful design inspired.
