Shawn Aschan, 42, passed away and entered into eternal peace on July 4, 2011, in Stafford, VA. Shawn was born in Marshalltown, IA, on March 4, 1969 to Sally and Carl Aschan. Shawn proudly served a long and distinguished career in the United States Army as an Officer prior to his untimely death. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Chantel (Wipprecht) and three beautiful children; daughter Lauren (17), son Wyatt (14) and son Morgan (11), his Mother Sally, Brother Shane (Trish), maternal Grandmother, Nondas Sports, his Father and Mother In Law, Paul and Jeanette Wipprecht along with a host of Aunts, Uncles, Brother and Sister In Laws, Nieces and Nephews and Friends too many to number. Shawn was preceded in death by his Father Carl. Shawn was truly a one-of-a-kind man and an inspiration to all he met and Shawn never met a stranger. He loved people and those he met could not help but love him back for he exemplified love, honesty, integrity and a witty sense of humor. Shawn will most likely be remembered for being the epitome of unconditional love for his family, friends and country. Although our hearts ache because you are no longer here with us Shawn; we will rely on our faith to carry us on the rest of our journey until the day when we will joyfully be reunited. Rest in Gods care. Love, your family. A Celebration of Shawn's Life will be held on July 14, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., at Cappadona Funeral Home, 1020 E. Fillmore Street. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Dear Sally,
The sad fallout from divorce is the distance it creates within families. I was very sorry to hear about Shawn, and saddened that I wasn't able to know him better. I wish peace for you and Shane as you work through this loss.
With love, Carl's sister, Chris

I am so sad to hear of Shawn's untimely passing. I may have never known a better person. The year we lived together at UNI was fun, and I really enjoyed getting to know Shawn as a friend along with Sallie and Carl. My thoughts are with you all.

Sally and Shane, We were so sorry to hear about Shawn. It has been so many years since we have seen you. It sounds like Shawn lived his 42 years in such a Godly way and lived more life than most people do in 80 years. You must be very proud of him. We are so glad we had the opportunity to be friends with your family and we will be praying for you. We are so sorry that Carl is gone, too. Sally, you have always been so special to me and I know Jesus will see you through. Tell Shawn's family how sorry we are too. We never had a chance to meet them. We love you all.

Sallie, Shane, & family- I am so sorry to learn of Shawn's passing. I am in shock as dad called today. I just think of us all playing together as kids and going to school together. I have so much to say but not enough space here to express how I feel. God Bless you Shawn. You are going to be missed.

I am sadden to here of Shawn's passing we were raised together from the age of 3. We were close throughout the years but I moved to Texas our Freshman year of High School. I know he will be missed. I had not spoken to him since the day of my father's funeral 20 years ago in Marshalltown. I am very deeply hurt and sadden by his passing. We shared alot of things growing up. I loved you Shawn.

....another reminder of how precious the moments we have with family & friends are. I had the honor of serving with this wonderful officer; he was "one in a million" of truly kind-hearted, always giving spirit, and uplifting smiling nature. Shawn, you are dearly missed!

Wow, Shawn, I still cannot think YOU are a heavenly angel. God looked around His Garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon His earth and saw your loving face. He saw your path was difficult and He closed your weary eyes. He whispered to you "Peace by Thine" and gave you wings to fly. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone for part of Sallie, George, Larry, Mike, Pat, Marion, Breanna, Kelsey, Chelsey, Lindsay, Christina, Scott and most of all Granny Sports went with you on the day God called you home.
Love you entirely, Shawn. We will miss you always until we meet again...happy trails.

Sallie, Shane and Family,
I am very, very sorry...
I always remember the Great Memories and the fun we had when together and never will forget these times. Shawn has always held a special place in our (Romine Family)hearts. When Brad died he and I spent alot of time talking and getting through the pain. I know Brad and Shawn are continuing their friendship and memories together. My thoughts are with you all and please let me know if you need anything.
