Ralph Scarpa Obituary

Scarpa
RALPH "RAY" SCARPA
January 15, 1945-
December 27, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Ray Patrick Scarpa, 73, announce his sudden passing on December 27, 2018.
Ray was born on January 15, 1945 in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Rose and Ralph Scarpa. He graduated from Queen of Peace High School before earning a Business Administration degree from Seton Hall University. He married Donna Marie Russ on September 17, 1967 and they recently celebrated 51 beautiful years together. Ray served in the Air Force for 4 years and during this time earned a Bronze Star for his tireless dedication to country. The Air Force brought Ray to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1967 where he was stationed at NORAD in Cheyenne Mountain. After serving in the Air Force, Ray worked for the State of Colorado as a Tax Audit Manager and served the State for nearly 30 years until his retirement. Ray was an active and devout member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church, serving on many committees and teams. He also volunteered throughout the Colorado Springs community.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Rose Scarpa, and his brother, Anthony Scarpa. He is survived by his wife, Donna Scarpa; his four daughters, Debbie Varga, Laura Bell (Timothy), Kristi McGarry (Patrick), and Cynthia Scarpa (Sumanth Belawadi); and six grandchildren: Aislyn, Kyla, Ava, Gianna, Donovan, and Sloane.
Ray lived a life dedicated to serving God, his family, and his community. He loved trains, travel, singing, the mountains, his dogs, and a good Italian meal, but nothing made him happier than being with his family and helping others. Ray touched everyone's heart that was lucky enough to come in contact with him. His loss leaves a void in our community and he will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Hospital or Marion House Soup Kitchen.
