Billy Dawson Obituary

Dawson
Billy B. Dawson
July 17,1937 - November 2, 2017
We will mourn the loss, and also celebrate the new life, of our dearly beloved uncle, great-uncle, great-great uncle and friend, Billy Bryan Dawson. Billy was born July 17, 1937 in Colorado Springs, to John Garland Dawson and Minnie Ennis (Caudill) Dawson. His family welcomed Billy's sister Carolyn two years later.
Billy had many fun stories to share of growing up in Colorado Springs. From riding his bicycle delivering telegrams, to playing on the flat rooftop of a mortuary on Colorado Avenue. Billy graduated from Colorado Springs High School, which is now named, William J. Palmer High School. He loved tinkering with TVs and radios, which led to his long time career as an electronic technician with Hewlett-Packard. Before Hewlett-Packard, Billy used his electronic knowledge in the Air Force and with Kaman Nuclear Sciences.
Billy's first and main path in life was to be a faithful servant of God. He has been a true spiritual mentor to all of his family and friends. He had a great knowledge of the Bible. Billy had a great love of music. He loved to invite friends in to listen to all kinds of music; even sound effects of trains rolling through his speakers he put inside a sewer pipe. Wow, you thought you were going to get run over!
Billy spent most of his life in the city of Colorado Springs, but did travel away with his Air Force career and when Hewlett-Packard sent him to Fort Collins and Vancouver, Washington. When Billy wasn't exploring everything electronic, he enjoyed an assortment of muscle cars and new foreign cars. He was always buying a new gadget to make his cars, stereos, and appliances run better and more efficiently.
His parents, and his sister, Carolyn, preceded Billy in death. His first wife, LaRue and his second wife, Connie, also preceded him in death. Also, preceding him was his daughter, Linda. Billy is survived by his sons, David B. Dawson and Timothy W. Dawson. Billy's brother in law, John A. Follis survives him. Billy is also survived by his niece, Jennifer Hahn (Charly) and his nephew, James Follis (Susan). Billy is survived by 12 great nieces and nephews and 19 great-great nieces and nephew. We all will miss him dearly.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Ed and Jan Lawrence and the Pikes Peak church of Christ congregation, who were like family to Billy. We also wish to thank the Memorial Hospital fourth and sixth floor nurses and the Pikes Peak Hospice for their great care of Billy. Memorial services will be held on November 10th, 11 a.m., at the Pikes Peak church of Christ located at 1402 W. Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
