Delores Schubert Obituary

Schubert
Delores "Lori" Mary Agnes (McMenemy) Schubert
June 11, 1949 - February 27, 2018
Delores "Lori" Schubert died on February 27 at her home in Colorado Springs at the age of 68. Lori was born in Regensburg, Germany on June 11, 1949 to Thomas and Frieda (Raszeja) McMenemy.
With a wry sense of humor and an eye for killer thrift-store finds, Lori was a consummate animal lover, an accomplished gardener, a world traveler, and an authentic friend to many.
Lori is survived by her husband of 20 years, Richard Schubert; her daughter, Shannon Hatch (Heath Martin); her step-children, Dana Ford, Lindsey (Scott) Rea, and Luke (Christina) Schubert; her adopted children, Zina, Nikita, and Yuri Schubert; seven grandchildren; and her best friend for nearly five decades, Margaret Ward (the stories she could tell, if not sworn to secrecy).
Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Lori's life at an open house celebration on March 24th at 1 pm, to be held at the Schubert residence.
In lieu of flowers (as they would be consumed by cats...), donations can be sent to Lori's favorite nonprofit, San Luis Valley Animal Welfare Society (www.slvaws.org).

Lori was one of my best friends. We met through our adoptions in 2006. Lori wore her emotions on the outside and sometimes that could be hard for people to understand but she was one of the most loving and kind people I know. For years we met every Wednesday morning for breakfast. We were such regulars that the waitresses knew our orders. It was easy for us to sit for 2 hours or longer catching up from the previous week. Our last breakfast we sat in a McDonald's enjoying their coffee and egg McMuffins for 4 hours. We were so surprised when we realized how long we had been there. We also had spontaneous Starbucks runs. One of us would call and say "I can meet you in 15 minutes!" My world is smaller without her in it. I will miss her for the rest of my life. The dimples, the blue eyes, the sarcastic sense of humor. I'll miss it all.

Rick and family. So sorry for your loss. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. I loved how much joy gardening brought her. She would show me her finds at the the thrift stores ( she did good!). I hope someone loves her blue plate collections as much as she did.

May the God of all Comfort strengthen the family and friends of Lori. Please know that those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in His eyes (Psalms 115:15). My sincerest condolences and my prayers are with you.
