GLENDA JUNE (BRINTON) BANKS
August 13, 1934 November 2, 2018
Glenda June Banks passed away on Nov. 2, 2018 after a mercifully short battle with cancer.
Glenda was born on August 13, 1934 in Agency, Missouri to Reece and Blanche (Heath) Brinton. She spent her childhood on the family farm and in the town of St. Joseph, Mo. During her teen years, she was active in high school sports and was a cheerleader at Central High in St. Joe where she graduated in 1952. She made many friends during her years in Missouri and she kept in close contact with them up to the day she died.
The day after her high school graduation, she and her parents moved to Colorado Springs. Glenda worked at Hobby Stationers and First National Bank before getting a job at S & C Enterprises where she met Wayne Banks. They were married in Raton, NM on Sep. 29, 1955.
Glenda was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. In 1985 she was elected Worthy Matron of Gold Nugget Chapter #30 in Cripple Creek. Over several decades, she held numerous offices in both the Cripple Creek and Woodland Park Chapters. She loved being a part of the Order and made friendships that lasted the rest of her life.
In 1992, Glenda and Wayne sold their Westside home and headed to the mountains a few miles west of Lake George. They moved to the home they had built themselves in the early 1970's. While Glenda treasured the solitude and peace of mountain living, she did like the occasional trip to Cripple Creek for dinner at and a little slot machine action.
During their retirement, Glenda and Wayne traveled extensively in their RV and in recent years enjoyed spending winters in Yuma, Arizona, surrounded by friends, both old and new.
Glenda was a devoted daughter, wife and mother. She made friends wherever she went and she had a smile for everyone. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Leo and Robert.
She is survived by her husband Wayne, daughter Laura (Rick) Severson, son Curtis (Donna), grandson Jacob and niece Terri Ann Binder.
