Howard Holland Lanier
1938 - 2017
Howard Holland Lanier was born on January 1, 1938 in Columbus, Georgia.
His wife Janet, daughter Amanda (Molcolm), two grandsons, Isiah and Xavier. He is also survived by one sister Betty and one nephew Daryll. Howard was preceded in death by his father George and his brother Jerome. Mother Eddie Battles.
Howard served in the United States Air Force for twenty two distinguished years. His overseas tours included England, Panama, Turkey, Thailand and various stateside bases. After retiring from the Air Force in 1979, Howard worked at Honeywell and ATMEL.
Howard was very active in the Catholic Church. He was an Altar Server, extraordinary Minister, Usher, and Sacristan and served in various other positions. He was a volunteer at the Catholic Center at the Citadel. He also served on Catholic Charities Board of Directors for several years.
Howard was also active in the Knights of Columbus where he served as District Deputy, faithful Navigator and Grand Night (several times) and other offices.
Howard's education consists of a Master of Arts degree (Procurement and Material MGT) a Bachelor of Science (Technical MGT) an Associate of Applied Science (Business MGT) and many civilian and military certificates.
Howard's hobbies were golf, reading, solving cross word puzzles, barbecuing, making hot salsa and having friendly discussions. Howard will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Scripture Rosary will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 14, 2017 following with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 S. US Highway 85/87, with full Military Honors by USAF High Frontier Honor Guard. Condolences may be shared with family by visiting www.angelusfuneraldirectors.com
