Katie Bauer Obituary

Bauer
Katie Lenaette
(Truelove) Bauer
1/14/1927 - 05/04/2018
Katie Lenaette Truelove Bauer was born January 14, 1927 in Faulkner, Kansas to Robert and Lena (Leach) Truelove. Katie grew up in Quawpaw, Oklahoma and later moved to Kerrville, Texas. In July of 1944, Katie met the love of her life, Alex Bauer from camp Mistic and they married on August 24, 1944. To this union were born three sons: Rex, Michael and Carl. Katie's family made Colorado Springs their home in 1956, where she was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church. Katie worked at Pikes Peak Photo on Colorado Avenue while raising her three boys. After retiring, Katie and Alex moved to Craig, Colorado and then to Grand Junction to be near Rex's family and to watch her grandchildren, Rex and Gretchen grow up. Katie lost Alex after 44 years of marriage, and then moved back to Colorado Springs, CO in 1994 to be near Carl and Michael's family and to watch her grandchildren, Jennifer, Rebecca and Katie, (her namesake), grow up. Beyond these families there are ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren who all knew and loved her. Katie was pre-deseased by her parents; husband, Alex; son, Rex; and great-granddaughter, Audrey Mae; siblings, Jerry, Betty, Norma, MaryJane and Bessie. Katie is survived by sister, Nancy Dummer, sons, Michael, (Cindy), and Carl. Grandchildren: Rex (Therese), Gretchen (Chris) Cushenberry, Jennifer Weis, Rebecca (Aaron) Remund, Katie (Chris) Ackerman.
