Alice was born June 30, 1934 in Phoenicia, New York; a small village in the Catskill Mountains. As a young adult, Alice worked in the beautiful boarding houses which served summer guests from New York City. Growing up she loved skiing and most afternoons went to the small one-run slope near her home.
After high school in Kingston NY, Alice attended secretarial school. She returned back to Phoenicia to work at Onteora Central School as office and school board secretary. It was at this school she met Warren, who had moved up from New Haven, CT to teach. Warren was drafted into the Army of 1956, they married shortly after in 1957.
Their first assignment together was to Washington DC. There Alice continued secretarial work in the Chief of US Chaplins office. During their second assignment to Ft. Harrison Indiana, their son, Kendall (1960) and daughter Judy (1961) were born. Soon after, they began a three-year assignment to Germany; a period in her life she loved very much. In 1973, the family was transferred from the Washington DC area to Colorado Springs.
Her years here in Colorado Springs were filled with raising teenagers, managing the household, volunteering at Ft. Carson as a credit counselor, and completing a Bachelors degree in Sociology from UCCS. After graduation, she worked for JC Penney. She enjoyed participating in charity bridge events and volunteering in the church office. Alice had a unique talent for editing papers, in the days before spell-check, her skills were appreciated in the offices she worked in. She enjoyed editing the church newsletter for many years.
Alice passed away on September 12, 2018 surrounded by family and the compassionate care of the Pikes Peak Hospice staff at Penrose Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Warren; children, Kendall and Judy; their spouses, Helen and Alex; brother, Renwick Dibbell; grandchildren, Nicole, Kindra, Alaina, Clara, and Solomon; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 11:00AM, First Southern Baptist Church, 1409 Palmer Park Blvd, C/S, CO 80909.
