COL BLAINE WARREN HYTEN, USAF, (RET.)
April 21, 1951 January 13, 2021
No written words can possibly do justice to the man Colonel Blaine Hyten was or the life he lived.
Blaine Warren Hyten, 69, of Colorado Springs, was received by the Lord on January 13, 2021 surrounded by family after a long battle with ALS. He was born April 21, 1951 to Colonel Warren and Virginia Hyten in Fort Benning, Georgia.
Blaine is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Marcea; four children and their spouses, Christie, Jimmy (Jill), Andy (Sheryl), and Rebecca (James); and eight grandchildren, Andrew, Luke, James, Alexander, Adam, Sophia, Crew, and Tyler. Blaine is also survived by three brothers, Cloyd, Randy, and Todd.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Virginia.
Blaine was a proud graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, class of 1974. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1974 to 1981 and interservice transferred to the Air Force in 1981. He served until 2001. Blaine fulfilled his professional dreams of joining the Air Force and becoming an honored pilot. In addition to the T-37, T-38, C-130, and training airplanes, he loved to fly helicopters like the Cobra, Huey, and CH-3 (Jolly Green Giant). Before taking over air space, he conquered the ground in driving tanks and commanded a platoon as a 2LT. Blaine retired having earned the rank of Colonel and countless, well-deserved medals. His military service took him and his family to places all over the country and Europe.
From his military retirement in 2001 until 2018, Blaine worked at NORTHCOM at Peterson Air Force Base.
Even as a dedicated patriot, God and family always came first. His faith and unconditional love for his wife, Marcea, was endless and unwavering until his last breath. They were joined in holy matrimony for forty-six years. Blaine loved life, his family, his gun collection, and powdered donuts! He was a fighter to the very end.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful team of caregivers who helped care for Blaine over the last few years.

As we grow older, our years seem to go by so much faster. But that first year without those we love, seems never ending. The loss through all the "firsts" seems to bring up another level of pain that we feel will never end. But as we celebrate your life instead of mourn our loss, our hearts learn to move forward; one step at a time. With the strength we continue to build on, from our Lord and Savior, we don´t seem to notice the healing process. We thank God every day for the blessings He has given us and and you Blaine, will always hold a special place on our list. The hole you have left will always remain, but more joy will continue to grow around it, as we continue to relive the wonderful memories. And thank you for giving us the beautiful blessings/cousins; Marcea, Christy, Jimmy, Andy and Becca. We look forward to meeting all their families someday. We love you Blaine and we will all see you again!
With love,
Cindy and BJ

There are truly never any “right words” to say when we lose someone we love. We will always cherish the joy and laughter, all the wonderful memories from childhood through adulthood. And then we can’t help but to forever wish we had more time, but knowing you are Home is truly comforting. Knowing you are once again watching over your precious wife and your beautiful family is comforting as well. You leave an indelible hole in the hearts of all who love you, but there is comfort in knowing you are joining so many of our family that we have missed as well. This family will all be together again someday, but until we are, we will be there for Marcea, your children and your grandchildren, if ever they need us. Rest in peace, Blaine......we will miss you so very much.
We love you,
Cindy and BJ
