In 1965 they bought the Louisville Times in Louisville, Colorado. The paper expanded to Lafayette News and Erie Review and they continued until 1998 when the papers were sold.
Her most important job and joy was caring for the family, David, Cynthia and Doug. Catherine Jean, born in 1957, died in birth.

Louisville history was an interest and she collected the town's history for newspaper items and eventually published the town's first history book, "The Louisville Story." She followed up with two more local history books, and volunteered up until her 91st birthday at the Louisville Historical Museum and the Lafayette Senior Center.
