Catherine Anne Sumner was born to Lawson D. Sumner and Dorothy Swan Sumner in Colorado Springs, Colorado March 2, 1935, and went on to her next adventure July 5, 2018. Catherine held several jobs serving children in our community, from working for the nascent Head Start program in the sixties to Psychological Councilor at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind. She earned her master's degree in Developmental Psychology from UCCS while raising three children and earning a living. Catherine loved dancing, camping in our glorious mountains, and socializing with people. She was a member of the Psychology Club at UCCS, Summit Singles after her divorce, and for many years she served as the editor for the "Tartan Tattler", the newsletter of the Scottish Society of the Pikes Peak Region. In later years she took particular pleasure in sitting on her front porch watching the world go by, greeting good neighbors and their good dogs. Catherine is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Lawson, husband Robert E. Brown, sons Duane C. Davis and Benjamin L. Davis. She is survived by her brother James L. Sumner, his wife Sandi, and daughter Shannon C. Davis, as well as scores of nieces and nephews, and so many good friends. Graveside service will be at Evergreen Cemetery, July 21st 2018 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please hug someone you love, and/or donate to your favorite people or nature oriented charity.
