Chie U. Farinelli, mother and grandmother (Obaasan to her family), age 92, passed away peacefully with family by her side, March 10, 2023, at MacKenzie Place, Colorado Springs, CO, after living with dementia for 12 years.
She was born August 14, 1930, to Koshiro and Sawa Ubukata in Zushi, Japan.
She married Costanzo John "Gus" Farinelli, Sergeant First Class, USA, Retired, and they had two children, Kenji and Sara.
Chie worked as a bookkeeper and retired from Boeing Employees Credit Union.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, shopping, traveling, staying in shape, line dancing, and playing cards (a skill where she was very competitive).
Chie is survived by her children Kenji (Janice) and Sara (Paul Howard), grandchildren Melissa, Gregory and Olivia, and sisters Teruko and Yoshie. She was preceded in death by her husband Gus Farinelli, parents Koshiro and Sawa, sister Miyoko, and brother Masatoshi (Emiko).
Visitation will be March 28, 2023, 12:30 PM PDT, at Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park, 11111 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle, WA. Graveside service and interment will follow at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery, 2:00 PM PDT, with Father Thomas Allsopp officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gregory Farinelli, Peter Farinelli, David and Henry Hampton, Paul Howard, and James Keough.
