Curtis Evonne Solum went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 11, 2021 after a two-week battle with COVID pneumonia. The void he leaves here on earth is immense but his influence will never be forgotten.
Curt was born in Warren, Minnesota on December 21, 1934 to Thron and Florence (Gustafson) Solum. He graduated salutatorian from Argyle High School in 1952. He served his country in the Navy and then attended Biola College completing his BA in Bible in 1964. It was there that he met Marilyn Gravette. They were married on June 25, 1965. He then went on to earn a BD (Bachelor of Divinity) and MRE (Master of Religious Education) from Talbot Theological Seminary. Soon after, Curt joined the staff at Village Bible Church in Garden Grove, California. During this time they also had two daughters. In 1973, Curt became the Pastor of Calvary Bible Church in Grand Junction, Colorado where he served faithfully until his retirement in 2000. Following his retirement, they attended and served at Heritage Church in Grand Junction. Curt and Marilyn moved to Colorado Springs in 2014 and joined the church family at Austin Bluffs Evangelical Free Church.
Curt provided a consistent example of what it means to love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. He knew that life was not defined by the acquisition of material things or making a name for oneself, but rather by living for Christ and sharing the Gospel with others.
Curt also demonstrated his faith and steadfastness in the ups and downs of life. Always a man of his word, he was solid in his convictions based solely on Scripture. His life was marked by wisdom and integrity. He was a faithful, loving husband and godly father and grandfather.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Glenn. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and daughters, Nancie (Glen) Schaumloeffel of Bozeman, Montana and Lisa (Jeff) Nethken of Falcon, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jonathan Schaumloeffel, Janea (Zachary) Fort, Jacob Schaumloeffel and Christopher Nethken.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Austin Bluffs Evangelical Free Church, 3435 Maizeland Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909. He will be buried at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.

Curt was a great guy who served the Lord. He officiated at D.Ann and my wedding. We will always remember him and that day. It was a pleasure to know Curt all these years.
