Francisco Mora Obituary

Longtime Marian House volunteer Frank Mora passed away October 5th peacefully at home. A "Celebration of Life" will be held on October 20 at Marian House, 12:00pm - 2:00pm. October 23rd beginning at 2:00pm - Rosary, Funeral Mass, Inurnment and reception: St. Mary's Cathedral.

Frank began volunteering at the Marian House in 1999 as the Volunteer Coordinator. He had a special place in his heart for Catholic Charities as he was raised in a Catholic orphanage and Catholic Charities workers helped him through school. He spent 17 years in orphanages before graduating from high school and joining the Army National Guard. He attended Wichita State University, leading to a career with Marriott.

Frank said, "The best part of my job is that I get to see the results of my work in people's lives." He believed everyone should volunteer. His motto was, "Thanks for volunteering - it's good for the heart."

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marian House, 14 West Bijou Street, Colorado Springs, 80903.

Frank is survived by several sisters, a daughter and granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, and hundreds of friends.

Not sure what to say?

My Dear friend Frank. I miss you dearly.

October 13, 2020

I met Frank in early 2000 when I was homeless. I would stop by to eat and check my mail. Frank was much more than a volunteer. He was a kind soul with a huge heart. He asked if I could help him with the mail. That little bit of kindness was huge for me at the time. We became friends and I became a fellow St. Louis Cardinal fan. I move back to my home town in Iowa in 2004 and got my life back in order. I would always send Frank mementos that I picked up at Busch Stadium. I waited in line for over 3 hours at a local minor league team stadium so I could get a replica world series to send to frank. He was wearing it when I went to Colorado in May to visit my family and Frank. I posted a photo of Frank & I having lunch. I will forever miss him and thank God for having him in my life.

As a Marian House Soup Kitchen volunteer veteran of twenty-two years, I came to know Frank well. He always appreciated the Marian House volunteers, had a warm smile and firm handshake whenever you greeted him. He will be sorely missed. I can now even hear the Lord say to His humble servant, Frank, "well done, good and faithful servant. I was hungry and you fed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was homeless and you gave me shelter, and I was a stranger and you welcomed me." Vaya con Dios, Frank!
