January 30, 1934 December 19, 2020
Helen Margot Glaspy
Born January 30th, 1934 and entered into heaven on December 19th, 2020. Helen was born in Leipzig Germany as an only child to Gerhard and Gertrude Brauer. Helen was a factory worker and also worked for a song & dance troupe after her education. Helen met an American army soldier who was on a military tour in Germany and they fell in love. Helen married Robert L. Glaspy in 1959. After the completion of his service in Germany Robert and his new German bride came to America and she met her new family. Helen soon became fluent in English and made many friends with her vivacious personality. She was so proud when she passed her test and became a US citizen. Her greatest accomplishment however, are her 5 beloved children, Carmen Hamilton, Shirley Collins, Diane Corbett (Mike), Robert L. Glaspy Jr., and Frank L. Glaspy.
After traveling to different duty stations in the US and abroad the family's final tour was Ft. Carson and they settled in this beautiful city they loved in 1972. Helen was very proud when she was hired by Eisenhower hospital on E. Pikes Peak Ave. She told everyone that would listen that she was going to college to learn how to be a central supply clerk. She loved her job and they loved her. Helen's first grandchild Mark was born at her hospital in 1975 during her shift and she brought each co-worker to meet her baby. Helen went on to become a grandmother of 13 and a great-grandmother of 15 and was so proud of each and every one of them.
Helen loved playing cards, bowling on many leagues with her husband and friends, and Bingo. She loved to sing and loved to dance.
Helen's husband Robert passed away on January 26th, 2020 just 11 months earlier. We take comfort in knowing that they are together again. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be a private family burial on January 15th, 2021. Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Pikes Peak Nat 'l Cemetery.
