Huitt, a long time resident of Colorado Springs, died peacefully in his home September 7, 2018.
He was born March 12, 1924 on his family homestead in Cullman County, Alabama. He was ninth of ten children. As a small child, his parents moved to the Mississippi River Valley near New Madrid, Missouri, where they farmed for the next eighteen years. After high school, he entered college and eventually spent his entire professional career in the field of education.
He is survived by Cerbie, his wife of 34 years, three children of a previous marriage (Hugh, Sara & Cindy), two step-children (Deborah & Janet), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Services will start at 11:00, with Pastor Lewis Adkison presiding. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Reception back at Evergreen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care.
