Hurl Risner

Hurl Risner passed away on January 5 peacefully in his sleep in Denver, CO. Born in 1926 in Seitz, Kentucky to Harry and Lura Risner, tobacco farmers. Enlisting in the Army, he saw combat in France and Germany in 1945 and remained in occupied Germany for a year after the war. Upon his return, he enrolled in the University of Kentucky, receiving his BS in Business Administration.
After a short stint with Kroger Foods, he was commissioned as an officer in the US Air Force in 1950, where he served for 20 years, which included duty in Korea (RB-26 navigator) and Vietnam. Commendations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, and the Air Medal. He also received an MBA degree from Michigan State University in 1964.
After retiring from his last duty assignment at the US Air Force Academy in 1970, he went on to teach at Western State College for 16 years in the business department.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn Risner, his two sons, Keith and Mark, and three grandchildren, Kelse, Paige, and Weston.
He was a true patriot, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
