Dupont
MARIE K. (BUCKLEY) DUPONT
January 20, 1934 October 29, 2018
Marie K. Dupont passed from this life, to be with the Lord, on October 29, 2018, at the Life Care Center of Longmont, CO.
Marie was born January 20, 1934 in Hudson, NY, to James and Josephine Buckley, and spent her childhood in Hudson, where she met her beloved husband of 61 years, Bob, during her last year in high school. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Robert Dupont, her parents, and her brother James Buckley. She is survived by her sister Betty; her son Ryan (Sonia), grandchildren Athena and JR; son Eric (Tedi), granddaughter Tess Renaud (Jarrod), and great-grandchildren Olive, Boston, Sailor, and Rosie.
Marie thoroughly enjoyed her role as a military wife to her beloved Bob, the love of her life, traveling often throughout the U.S. and Europe, re-establishing the Dupont home wherever they landed, and lovingly caring for her two sons, often by herself for long periods of time when Bob would be on military assignment. Marie spoke often of growing up in a household of various Polish and Irish family members, and of the devotion she had to her father, James. She enjoyed collecting antiques for her home, and she and Bob were great animal lovers, having numerous cats and many dogs big and small during their life together.
Marie was very courageous in her struggle with Alzheimer's disease and was never the same after Bob's passing in 2015, having lost her life partner and best friend of 61 years. Throughout it all she maintained her spunk and sense of humor to the end. Marie left Colorado Springs in 2017 after 30 years, and spent the last year of her life in Longmont, CO. Her time in Longmont was a great blessing to her family and we cannot express enough our gratitude to her caregivers, CNAs, nurses, therapists, doctors, and staff, for the loving, dignified care that she received in Longmont at Atria, and more recently Longmont United Hospital and the Life Care Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made in Marie's name to the (act.alz.org), or to Disabled American Veterans (dav.org).
A brief interment service will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 10:00 am, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236. Share Condolences at www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com.
We are comforted by her profession of faith in Christ and look forward to one day seeing her and Bob again.
