February 16, 2018, Mildred (Worley) Woolley was welcomed into God's heavenly kingdom. Born November 28, 1920 in Raton, NM, she died in Syracuse, NY. Surviving are Mike Woolley (son) and Carole Woolley Bildstein (daughter); sister Leone Gray; daughter in law Julie Roberts (Gary); son in law Ron Bildstein; five grandchildren Monique Woolley, Christopher Shawn (Angela) Woolley; Julianne Kathy (James) Williamson; Martin Bildstein and John Bildstein; grandson in law Gary Meyer: granddaughter in law Raellen Rutt (Travis); nine great grandchildren Amanda, Michael and Zoe Meyer, Christin and Tommy Woolley, Ryane, Jacob, Trinity and Emily Williamsons; nine nieces and nephews and a "boatload" of dear friends. Preceding her in death, son Steve Woolley; granddaughter Michelle Woolley; father and mother, step father, two brothers, one sister and former husband.
Mildred came to Colorado Springs in 1938 and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Beth El School of Nursing in 1942. Her nursing career spanned 43 years in various settings. She retired in 1985, having worked 25 years as a Public Health Nurse for El Paso County. She was an advocate for social justice and racial equality. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church from 1960 until she moved to Syracuse, NY in 1988. In retirement she became a lifelong friend of Richard Simmons; made solo road trips back and forth across the country; took many adult learning courses; and became extremely interested in national politics. Mildred's heart remained in Colorado Springs, even though she lived her post retirement in Syracuse, NY with her daughter and family. Mildred continued to be in contact with her Colorado Springs folks right up to her death.
The family asks you to consider a contribution in Mildred's memory to Mesa House, Attn. Steve Handen, 420 Mesa Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904, one of her cherished social service organizations.
