Norman Bowie, 59, of Penrose went to be with the Lord, February 1, 2018 after fighting a lengthy battle against ALS. Norman was born in Canon City to James and Virginia Bowie on November 19, 1958. He was a lifelong resident of Fremont County. Norman married Lisa Pickett on April 18, 1980, and they were blessed with 37 years of marriage.
Norman is survived by his wife Lisa, and two children: Michael Bowie and Rachel (Justin) Haberman along with two grandchildren Macie and Brooks Haberman; one brother Jim (Rhonda) Bowie; three sisters Ramona (Olie), Debbie (Butch) Hunsberger and Lorie Phipps; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, and sister Diane Bowie.
An electrician by trade, Norman started his own business in 2013 with his children. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and took much pride and joy in restoring his grandfather's '69 Ford truck. Norman coached youth baseball for several years and touched the lives of many people in the process. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor to all. Norman was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Norman will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday February 9, 2018 at The Evangelical Free Church located at 3000 E. Main St., Canon City, CO 81212.

So sorry to hear of norms passing. Our prayers are with the family. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding fill your hearts. Norm was a great guy. I enjoyed hunting with him in Colorado. It was a great day when he got a nice bull elk. Those are the moments friendships are made. Rest in peace my friend.

Norm loved the color of my Fairlane and used it on the truck. So glad that he got to enjoy his dream - one sharp truck! Rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of taking Norm for rides in his grandfathers 69 Ford. Norm took great pride in fixing this truck up and it looks great. Anyone who knew Norm knew that you had to be on your game. Norm had a quick wit and sense of humor that would always draw a laugh from anyone around. Even after Norm lost the ability to speak, his sense of humor remained. On one of our trips in the truck we drove down Main street. I asked if he wanted to go back down and he nodded yes. Before the next trip down Main, Norm rolled down the windows and cranked up the music to "Bad to the bone." I couldn't help but laugh. Norm gave a smile and a thumbs up.
