Solomon "Sam" Sanchez, 75, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away peacefully on January 07, 2022.
He was born in Alamosa, CO on October 26, 1946 to Anselmo & Mary Romero Sanchez. He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. When he returned, he graduated from Adams State College in Alamosa. He then moved to Colorado Springs where he was a Special Ed Teacher until 2005 when he retired as Director of the Special Ed Dept. for Doughtery High School.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen Ruiz Sanchez; step daughter, Sandra Ruiz; granddaughter, Irene Sarabia; great-grandsons, Raul & Rafael; and sister, Margaret Sanchez Castleberry; plus a multitude of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cecelia Sanchez; paternal grandparents, Placido & Felicita Sanchez; and maternal grandparents, Bonifacio & Margarita Romero; and all of the Sanchez and Romero uncles and aunts.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, located at 2715 East Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80909 (Mass will be determined at a later date)

Sam will be missed - his humor, service, love of people and fun times, mentoring and advocacy. We learned so much from him. It was an honor to be his friend.

Sam was one of the friendliest teachers and a fan of our boys basketball team when I coached at Doherty, rest in peace my friend and thank you for just been a regular guy no fluff
