VALERIE JEAN LIENHARD
October 7 1958 January 13 2019
On October 7th 1958, Jack and Margaret Shuff brought a wonderful gift into their family. Valerie Jean. She was an amazing daughter for them, and an amazing sister to her siblings Steven, Rodney, Jennifer, and Jeffrey. In April of 1978 she decided to begin making her own family and married Jay Lienhard, to whom she was a wonderful, loving, and supportive wife for over 40 years. She entered into the union with Jay knowing the life of a military wife would not be easy. She excelled at this in so many ways. Her first son Christopher was born in 1979, soon to be followed by his brother Nicolas in 1980. Like everyone else in her life, these boys would soon grow to adore her. They each married wonderful women, Chris married Alissa, and Nick married Kim. These women presented three wonderful grandchildren each to Valerie, or as some called her, Pip. Keanna, Kaylee, Andrew, Ariel, Emily, and Xander, with one more on the way. She also showed her special love for the many nieces and nephews she had, as she loved them like her own children. Her love of elephants, because of their motherly instincts, was readily apparent in the way she loved us. Among the many things Valerie taught us in our lives the things that seem to stand out the most are the importance of family, love, laughter and play. She didn't necessarily teach us how to dance, just that we should. Sadly she passed away on January 13th 2019 after only 60 short years brightening the lives of those around her. She was preceded in death by her father Jack, and brother Jeffrey. The rest of us will all miss the fierce love she showed us. We all knew we had a special place in her heart. We will be celebrating her life on Saturday, January 19th ,2019 from 2-6pm at the house of her mother. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family would appreciate donations made in her honor to The Pulmonary Hypertension Association, The Red Cross, or The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
