Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 19, 2012.

Tom, 69 years old, was born and raised in Torrington, Connecticut. He graduated from Providence College in 1965 and the University of Hartford in 1966. He served in the Air Force from 1966 to 1970 as an Education Officer for a corrections program and went on to work in the criminal justice system as the Assistant Warden of Treatment at the Maryland House of Correction and as the Executive Director of the Maryland Commission on Correctional Standards. In 1985 he moved his family to Colorado and began his own business as a Criminal Justice Consultant. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a passion for social justice, and the desire to help those less fortunate. Tom leaves behind his wife Mary Jo, sons Michael (Mihira), Christopher (Colleen), Matthew (Lauren), daughter Anne Marie (Severin) and three grandchildren, Milana, Avani, and Lucas. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Friday, September 21, 2012 at 2pm at St Patrick Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. He will be greatly missed.

Mary Jo, Michael, Chirstopher, Matthew and Anne Marie and family: I just found out about Tom's passing and let me express my condolences. I worked with Tom on a case of mine. I am in New Mexico and it was quite some time ago. However, I though so much of him and he was great at what he did! I have recommended him to colleagues over and over and am saddened by his passing. My sincerest condolences.

Mrs. Rosazza and family, Although I apologize that this is long overdue, I wanted to extend to you my deepest sympathies at the loss of your devoted husband, father & grandfather. Tom worked as an expert witness for me in numerous cases, and I had the pleasure of getting to know him as we rode all over these West Virginia hills visiting correctional facilities. Many of our discussions involved him telling me about his family--his beautiful wife, children & grandchildren. Although I am sure everyone who knew Tom knows how he exuded a love for life and always had a smile for everyone, he had a special sparkle when he spoke about his family, whom he obviously loved very, very much. When he found out that I like to travel, he told me about all of the places that he and his wife had visited, and I could tell those were some of the greatest moments of his life. He was a great storyteller and a joy to be around. The positive attitude with which he fought his illness was a true inspiration. I hope you will be comforted by all of the wonderful memories you have, and I pray for peace for all of you. Lou Ann Cyrus, Esq. (Charleston, WV)

Tom, We only knew each other for short time, but that time was filled with laughter, respect, and hard work! You came to me at one of your weakest points physically but left me so much stronger mentally. You fought your way back to be there for your family. You taught me to respect life, embrace difficulty and most importantly to live laugh and love! I have been blessed to have known you and I want to personally thank you for making me a better man. May your soul rest in piece and may god bless your loved ones. Until we meet again my friend.

Dear Mary Jo, I was saddened to hear about Tom. We had many great times together growing up in Torrington. I saw the news in the Torrington Register this week and was greatly saddened. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I fondly remember Tom from Torrington. He was a friend of my brother Ed. Tom always had a smile and good word to me (as a younger kid) when he came by our house to play cards on the weekend with the guys.

My heart goes out to Tom's wife and family. He died too young! Tom was from one of Torrington's great families. I am sure he enriched the lives of people he knew over the years. Archbishop Peter and Joan, know my thoughts are with you. (Joan, from these messages I now know that we are Kappa sisters...life is interesting!). prayers are going out to you ...Cathie Houlihan Perga, Los Altos Hills, CA

To the Rosazza Family... I just cannot believe this ! Tom was a great friend and we shared many laughs together. I remember all those great parties in the basement rec room at his parents's home on Pilgrim Road. We were in the Vahabonds Drum Corps together and often practiced while he was driving the Mertz delivery truck. Just saw him last year at his THS Class of '60 reunion, where I had the pleasure of being the guest DJ. I just feel awful ! Condolences to a wonderful family.
Sincerely,

Tom will be missed by his many cousins. I particularly remember spending summers with the Rosazza & Lizotte family in Torrington. We lived in Hamden, Conn. and would travel route #8 up the valley to Torrington.
Some of my fondest memories were the Thanksgiving dinners spent at my house in Hamden with all the "clan".
I too am a graduate of Providence college which adds to the close feelings I have for Tom.
May God hold you forever in His arms.
I will be seeing you Tom!

The legal community will miss Tom very much. It is not easy to advocate for humane and safe prison conditions for violent felons in state and federal prisons, but Tom had a passion for those whom society wants to forget --and his passion was contagious. Tom told the truth about prison conditions and showed the misconduct about prison employees to attorneys and judges so that justice could be done. Tom truly served "the least of these" and we were all blessed to know and work with him.

I have deep sorrow within my heart for the loss of Tom and the Rosazza family. Knowing Tom, I admired him for being a dedicated husband to Mary Jo and his children. Tom always had a warm smile and a humorous personality for all. He leaves behind many fond memories for us to remember and will never be forgotten. Mary Jo, you and the Rosazza family will be in my daily prayers. May God give you strength during during this stressful time.
Love, Dave

A wonderful human being has passed from this earth. I only knew him as a college classmate and enjoyed his company on several occasions after that for very short periods of time. Nothing that I have read here and heard from others surprises me about the amazing qualities of this man. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.
