David Wright Obituary

David Joseph Wright, 46, passed away after a very brief illness on March 18, 2015 in Colorado Springs. David was born in Corpus Christi TX on May 15, 1968 to Thelma Louise Bryar-Wright and James R. Wright. He is preceded in death by his parents and grand parents.

He is survived by his sisters Teresa Wright Lynn (Jimmy) of Searcy AR., Rebecca Wright of Tulsa OK, Stephanie Wright Sawall (Craig) of Colorado Springs, his step-mother, Marie H Wright of Corpus Christi, TX and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Colorado and surrounding states.

David grew up in Corpus Christi, TX and Austin TX and moved to Colorado in 1999 to be closer to family. His acompliments were many. His greatest one of all was his determination and will-power to overcome alcoholism 10 years ago...He made so many people proud....He worked hard and played hard.....he lived life to the fullest and he achieved more than he ever thought he would.

David loved Colorado and the natural beauty the state has to offer --he loved to pack up his RV, his American flag, his dog, bicycle, hammock and jet ski and travel, he loved to hike, ski, fish and camp. Traveling was his great adventure and the thousand of photos he took paid homage to the beauty of God's world in every vista and spoke of a life well loved. David will be greatly missed by so many friends and family and especially his constant companion, his dog Dottie--

David had a beautiful soul, the brightest smile and a true beauty that will forever be missed by the people that new him. His closest and personal friends, John and Amy Martin loved him as family and have graciously stepped in to take care of his dog.

Marty, Brandon and Katie Pollard Sinclair of Austin TX, Barbara Pollard and Nancy Pollard Blunk of Pueblo, CO were also part of his family that cared for him through out his life and loved him unconditionally. Thank you Pollard family!

David's memorial, well attended by friends and family, was held in The Garden of the Gods Park on Sunday March 22nd with prayers and eulogies followed by a small reception. His ashes will be scattered in some of his favorite Colorado destinations.

David is now our for-ever angle......his spirit is free and he will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone that loved him

He played, he danced and he loved life. David, you were taken away from us far too soon....we love and miss you so much.

David you have now joined your Godfather in heaven. He too died too early just as your mother and you have. May you find peace as you dance thru Heaven. Nancy Grabfelder, Mobile, Al

On Dave's last camping trip we were out at Pueblo and he taught me how to kayak. He got such a kick in getting to know "Mountain BaBa" as I fell in love with the mountains. Even got to share some great spots in the Wets. We had spent so much time camping out at Lake Travis - so many good memories! I guess I am still in shock that he is gone so young and will always miss his laughs and hugs. I now have another angel looking down from Heaven. You will always be missed. I love you brother!

I am grateful for the miraculous summer that continued blessing me as Dave became a brother, for his sisters to have arrived here safely and to have had quality time, for Dave' final journey on earth to have been relatively gentle and quick, for his parting words to me - "Be Happy". I think of the many journeys we have shared, how all the photos he took are a blueprint to being happy - see everything as having enough value to be photographed. I will miss D's RV needing a jump, his laugh, his always having a bit of "Super Tramp" in him. I am comforted that he will be remembered by Brandon and in knowing that the part of Dave that I loved is alive and well. He understands all that he didn't when he couldn't quite fly free here on earth and can only imagine how much fun he will have watching over and maybe even "paying back" his sisters to help you laugh when you miss him most. I would often laugh at Dave as he would be pulling his hair out over a sister - think many in Heaven smiled as Dave was the baby and only brother to six sisters!

Dave had many God given gifts and dreams, many he had an opportunity to live out. I am so proud of him. I look forward to when I get to the top of the mountain and my trail will also continue as yours did my beautiful brother.

So thankful that Dottie, an angel from Heaven, will be there for Amy and JR when they miss their friend. I know her namesake, our mom, has long been watching over her.

Thoughts and prayers to all.

Davids smile was contagious, his love of life infectious, and sense of adventure admirable!
Teresa, Steph and Rebecca THANK YOU for sharing your brother with us!
I know he would want us to smile so, here is what Brandon's "Uncle Dave" taught him:
-how to start a campfire...newspaper only
-the art of rolling down a sand dune...keep your eyes closed
-always ask for a snack @ bedtime...you get to stay up later
-if you have styrofoam...you have a kayak
-hot dogs make great fishing bait...don't pay for worms
-always smell good for the ladies...cologne can take the place of a shower
We will never run out of tears! Love and miss you til the day we die!
