Constance Solomon Obituary

Constance Scott Solomon passed away peacefully on March 6, 2016 following a brief illness.

Connie was born on June 30, 1940 to Arthur M. and Christine Thogmartin Scott in Springfield, Missouri. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, Kansas and the University of Kansas, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She earned her Masters degree in Special Education.

Connie began her teaching career in Kansas City, Kansas. She met and married Dr. Maurice Cochran Solomon while she was teaching hospitalized children at the University of Kansas Medical Center. They moved to Colorado Springs shortly after getting married. Connie spent the next few years at home raising her children. She then began an extensive political career that culminated in serving two United States Senators and as Chief of Staff for a United States Congressman.

Connie is survived by daughter, Allison Gorab, DDS (Ted) of Morrison, Colorado; son, Scott Solomon, MD (Mandy) of New Braunfels, TX; sister, Patricia Scott Morgan of Belton, Missouri; brother, Arthur M. Scott MD of Kennebunk Port, Maine, three nieces and one nephew. "Conki", as she was known to her four loving grandchildren, will be dearly missed.

A family burial is planned and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Not sure what to say?

Allison and Scott,

I am so sorry for your loss. I just learned of it today. I went to high school with your mom and we reconnected in 2010 when we both were visiting Pittsburg. We stayed in touch with phone calls and emails. Later I met you all in Pittsburg for your grandmother's memorial.
Connie was a wonderful lady, and I am deeply shocked and saddened at her passing. Now I know why I wasn't able to reach her these last few months.

Connie was a kind and lovely sorority sister. She was my pledge grandmother. I so wish I had known she was so close in Colorado Springs and we could have gotten together. She was a darling and everyone, me included, loved her in the Pi Phi House. I know she will be missed.
