Our deepest and sincere condolences to the Smith family. In hearing and seeing all the accolades given to Jay, we must add ours. Jay was part of our Scoops family since while attending Bermuda College and through University. He knew he could come back anytime for part-time work.
Jay was such a sweet, humble person, liked by teammates and customers alike. He was passionate about the environment and was constantly encouraging us to make the store more environmentally friendly. Thanks to him, we stopped using plastic bags.
I will miss him just popping into my office to update me on his latest charity activities and what was going on in his life. Bermuda and the world have missed out on some great things Jay would have done as he had so much more to give.
The Scoops family will miss you, Jay. Sleep in peace, Jawonday.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Jawonday's passing that it has taken me this long to put pen to paper.
I can still see little Jawonday running through the halls of Elliot School. He was a bright, promising student who had very strong family support. I was happy to hear that he was able to have done such wonderful, positive things with his life.
I pray that the wonderful, sweet memories of Jawonday will sustain your family through the days, weeks, months and years to come.

As an alumni parent and Board member, our paths crossed numerous times. He will be greatly missed by his Raleigh family. I remember KyAsia bringing this brilliant young man home after school one day and introducing him to me. The next thing I know I would find him at my house all the time baking and laughing!
He would make Pizza and Snickerdoodles and it was so delicious!
I would always ask him if he was taking some home for the family and he would tell me, these are not gonna make it that far. He always had a joke to tell and they were sometimes the Corniest jokes ever, but you couldn't help but laugh and laugh!! Next thing I know there are 4 young men at my house all the time and I loved it!

Jawonday was truly a special young man, and I am grateful I was able to get to know him. Every time I saw him he would say HI Aunt Janeka and give me a hug!

I met Jawonday through Raleigh, and we grew to become very good/close friends after so many years. He was truly a magnificent friend, and had such an incredible impact in both my life and others. He is someone I proudly call a TRUE friend and he lives in our hearts and memories.
He was absolutely brilliant and one of the funniest guys I knew too! I'm so grateful to God that I got to be friends with him. My heart breaks for the Smith family. I send my deepest condolences.

We recently moved to the Island and are so grateful to have witnessed Jawonday´s love for Bermuda and learn of the many hopes and dreams he had. I met Jawonday at Bermuda College and considered him a good friend. He was brilliant and always made sure to bring a laugh into the conversation. And a great chess player! He will be surely missed by all. My condolences to your family.

I participated in Raleigh international with him, we were friends in high school as well, I am stunned at his passing. I was surely miss him, he always brightened a room when he was there, he was a joy to be around and you never left feeling like he didn´t appreciate your company.
