Yesterday

I am so incredibly sad and shocked to hear this news. Dr. Watson looked after my parents and was my childhood doctor-for over 40 years. He was such a kind, compassionate, and truly special man. He cared for my dad during the final stages of my dad´s life with so much warmth. He made an incredibly hard time a little more bearable for all of us. Simple things even - like going out of his way to visit my dad at home. After my dad passed, he called me-just to check in and see how I was doing. That meant so much to me.

What an honourable man. You really don´t encounter many people who are as deeply human as Dr Watson. I will always remember him. And I will always be grateful for everything he did to help my dad. Sending prayers to his family. I hope it gives them strength to know of the difference, and of the impact, he made to so many peoples lives.

Absolutely gutted and saddened by this news. He was the only reason why myself and my family attended to this surgery. He gave it its positive reputation. Was always there to listen when you needed him. And was the first to help and to put things in place. RIP doctor and my condolences to the family....we ve lost a great man.

RIP Dr Watson you was the best doctor at Hyde Park surgery. You were our family doctor for over 20 years, from me being a child to having my own children we always asked for our appointments to be with you because you were the best. Always caring, going out your way to give us the best care. There will be no other doctor like you, my prayers and thoughts are with your beautiful family who you would always mention. The community hasn´t just lost a great doctor but a genuine caring soul.

It was an absolute privilege and pleasure to have worked with David at Hyde Park Surgery for 28 years as a Practice Nurse. He was a wonderful, generous and dedicated GP and friend, to both colleagues and patients. I suspect in his modest way, he would not have realised just how much we all adored and respected him. We are heartbroken. May he Rest In Peace. I will never forget him.

Remembering Dave as such a warm, kind compassionate man who had time for everyone. We shared many a conversation putting the worlds to rights on the touch line of our sons´ school football and rugby teams - touch lines that can be areas fraught with high emotion, but I never saw Dave as anything other than calm and unflappable. A really top guy - RIP Dave and sending deepest condolences to Ceri James and Will at this difficult time xx

Dr Watson was our family doctor for years and indeed what an amazing doctor he was. During Covid, my father had been diagnosed with cancer and Dr Watson still came to the house to see my father just to check in on him despite the restrictions in place.
He will be dearly missed and what a devastating loss to the surgery and the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Unbelievably sad news to hear of David´s passing. I got to know Dave in the 1990´s through our mutual friend Nigel Mayers and as a fellow GP in The Hyde Park area. We were both, for a while, members of the Leeds NW PCG board. Dave was universally liked and respected by all who worked with him and regarded as an outstanding GP. I certainly appreciated his thoughtful and intelligent contributions to PCG meetings! I don´t think I ever met a nicer guy. My profound sympathy and thoughts for Dave´s family and friends..

It's difficult to express the profound impact you had on so many lives. Your kindness and unwavering care touched each person you encountered, making them feel truly seen and heard. Your dedication went above and beyond, and your compassion knew no bounds. You possessed a rare gift for healing, not just physically, but emotionally as well. Though you are no longer with us, your legacy of generosity and empathy will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know you.
Thank you for being an exceptional doctor and an even more remarkable human being.
As my Doctor thanks again for supporting me through all my difficult times.
With heartfelt gratitude,

Dr Watson was a caring individual and he went above and beyond to support my mother through her last days of cancer. He further supported all of our family during our struggles to come to term with the loss.

Years later our boys were in the same class. Dr Watson was a dedicated parent who ran the Saturday football club on playing fields next to Weetwood Hall.

RIP David Watson and Sending love to all of the family

David, what an absolutely wonderful person.

Met him at the school gates, with our respective eldest kids starting reception class 22 years ago, and he was a gem from the off. Kind, warm, funny, rock solid reliable and all round force for the very good.

So many good times and so often he patched up a grazed child with a steri strip or a caring word, often both.

Our families ended up growing together, as did our treasured friendships.

Thinking of you and remembering all of the many wonderful days, David, and you Ceri, James and Will.

Much love, John and all the Ibbo's.
