Carolyn Lee Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Virginia "Carolyn" Lee (nee Powell), 86, of The Villages, Florida. Carolyn passed on April 25, 2025, at UF Spanish Plaines Hospital, The Villages. Carolyn was born on May 13, 1938, in Statesville, North Carolina, to parents Grayson Sr. and Virginia Powell (nee Orrell). Carolyn grew up in South Boston, Virginia. After graduating high school, she attended Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1959. She spent her career in nursing with many years as an OR nurse at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After retirement, she and her husband moved to The Villages in 2001. Carolyn will be lovingly remembered for kindness, unwavering integrity, and her love of family and friends. She was very involved in her church and attended many functions and classes. She loved the Lord, and it showed in how she conducted her life. She enjoyed playing cards and board games and was a member of Disney Fanatics. Walt Disney World was one of her favorite places to be. She also enjoyed traveling to places including the Holy Land, Alaska, and Hawaii, as well as many other places in the states. Carolyn is survived by her stepdaughter Cindy (Lee) Cordell; grandsons Justin and Christian; and many cousins; nieces; and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Mel Lee; her daughter Debbie Lee; stepson Billy Lee; and her brother Grayson Powell Jr. BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs will post a tribute to Carolyn on their website for friends and family to visit. Services will be held at New Covenant United Methodist Church, in The Villages, on May 21 at 3:00 pm, in their chapel. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carolyn's name to a charity of your choice.
