Thomas Burns Obituary

Thomas A. Burns 72 of Ocala, Florida, formerly Riverhead, New York passed away on February 12, 2025. He was born on January 13, 1953 in Queens, New York.
Tom spent many years as a banker. He was senior vice president of operations and multiple New York banking institutions and was vital in bringing banking systems into the modern age as technology evolved. After his retirement from banking he spent nearly ten years as a flagger on Long Island which he enjoyed immensely.
Tom was an amateur pool player where he won many accolades and awards, most notably playing in Las Vegas for an amateur tournament. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and loved attending rallies with his lifelong friends. But most of all he liked spending time at home with his wife, watching sports and enjoying his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, Thomas R. Burns, his mother, Catherine Burns (Sullivan), his younger brother, Daniel Burns and two nephews, Ryan and Wally.
Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Burns (Bianculli), his three children, Thomas (Kristie), Richard (Margarita), Mary Kate (Thomas), and his 6 grandchildren Catherine, Maximilian, Grace, Lillian, Amelia and Mikaela. He was also survived by his 4 sisters, 2 brothers and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home 910 Silver Springs Blvd Ocala, Florida 34470.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church 5 SE 17th Street Ocala, Florida 34471 with burial to follow at Highlands Memorial Park.
Pall Bearers will be Thomas Burns, Richard Burns, Max Burns, Thomas Balfe, Mike Burns and Joe Burns.
