Linda Thompson Brown, age 82, of Asheville passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025. She was born September 12, 1942, to the late Robert Thompson and Mabel DeBruhl Thompson.
A native of Asheville, she grew up in Weaverville attending North Buncombe High School. Linda retired from the City of Asheville after 19 years and worked at Land-of-Sky Regional Council for 11 years. After retirement she volunteered at Asheville-Buncombe Christian Ministry and the Asheville Pregnancy Center. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church where she was a member of the Praise & Prayer Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clark Brown who she missed since the day he passed away. Her brother, Rex Thompson also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her sons, Michael Payne (Carrie) and Mark Payne (Vicki); grandson, Matthew Payne (Karla); granddaughters, Justine Fowler (Randy) and Alyssa Stephen (Jacob); great grandchildren, Kailey Payne, Jillian Payne, Rosalyn Fowler, Jack Stephen and Claire Stephen; step-son, Craig Brown (Pat); step-daughter, Katrina Killian; step-granddaughter, Jennifer Finley and step-great grandson, Trevor Finley.
Services will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday, February 6, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Reverend Tony Hooper will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 2:30 pm Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
