Paul Thompson Obituary

Paul Louis Thompson, 81, of Glendale, Arizona, passed away on April 19, 2025. Born on January 19, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, Paul made Arizona his home for more than 40 years. He built a life rooted in hard work, deep devotion to his family, and a quiet passion for the things he loved-especially trucks and trains. Paul began his career as a truck driver and eventually became the proud owner-operator of his own fleet of dump trucks, delivering decorative rock all over the Valley. He was a man who took pride in doing a job well, and he built his business with the same dedication and grit he brought to everything he did. Every Christmas, he dressed up as Santa, bringing joy and laughter to the whole family-it became a tradition we all looked forward to. In his free time, Paul found joy in model trains. He was part of a close-knit community of fellow train lovers and spent countless hours building layouts, sharing stories, and celebrating the world of railroading-on both the grand and miniature scale. Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 40 years, Mary Thompson, who passed away in 2019. He is survived by his children David Thompson, Jon (Shannon) Thompson, Anna (Rick) Johnson, Matt (Amber) Thompson, and Chrissey (Chuck) Adams; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Paul's legacy rolls on like the trains he adored-steady, strong, and always moving forward. A private celebration of life will be held with close family.
