Clarence Scott Obituary

Clarence Franklin Scott, a cherished family man, and decorated veteran, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in Joplin, MO. Born on August 1, 1942, in Neosho, MO, Clarence's life was characterized by his unwavering patriotism, deep faith, and love for his family.
Clarence was a lifelong resident of McDonald County, Missouri, where he was well-known and respected. His dedication to his country was evident through his honorable service in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Clarence was a proud veteran who received multiple commendations for his service, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Expert Marksman Medal, and the Purple Heart Medal. His love for his country was only matched by his steadfast faith. As a devout follower of the Pentecostal faith, Clarence lived a life that reflected his beliefs, and he found great comfort and strength in the teachings of the Bible.
Clarence was known for his ornery spirit and his stubborn determination. Once he made up his mind, there was no changing it. This ornery yet endearing quality was one of the many reasons he was loved by so many.
He was happiest on his farm, where he cared for his cattle and goats. An avid fan of Westerns, he could often be found watching his favorite actor, John Wayne, on the screen. Clarence also had a passion for cooking, and his Japanese Fried Spaghetti and egg rolls were legendary among those who had the pleasure of tasting them. His love for food extended to sharing meals with his family at buffets, creating memories that they will hold dear.
Fishing was another of Clarence's joys. With a fishing rod in hand, he found solace and happiness by any body of water, big or small.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Emmalou Scott; a Step-daughter, Diana Edwards; and a son, Kirby Scott.
Clarence is survived by his children, Daniel, James, and Virginia; his stepson, Joe Divine; his brothers, George and Donny; his sisters, Linda, Tammy, Terrie, and Margie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services are at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home with Rick Sawyer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Lanagan Cemetery in Lanagan, Missouri. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Dusty Scott, John Pierce, Bryan Huff, Justin Huff, Harvey Mahan, and Bradley Rhinehart. The family will receive friends on Friday morning from 10-11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
